About the Destination
Located in the heart of the Thar Desert, Jaisalmer is known as the “Golden City,” famous for its sandstone architecture and desert experiences.

History & Heritage
Founded in 1156 by Rawal Jaisal, Jaisalmer was once a major trading center along ancient caravan routes connecting India to Central Asia and the Middle East. The Jaisalmer Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the few “living forts” in the world, where residents still live within its walls. Built from golden sandstone, the fort glows beautifully under the sun, giving the city its nickname. The city is dotted with intricately carved havelis, such as Patwon Ki Haveli and Salim Singh Ki Haveli, which reflect the wealth and artistry of merchant families. Jaisalmer’s architecture is adapted to desert conditions, showcasing both functionality and beauty. Its historical significance lies in its role as a trade hub and its unique desert heritage.
